Social and emotional learning has grown strong roots in classrooms across the US. Through intentional practices, creating environments where all students feel safe and understood is integral to their developmental success. Building relationships with and between students increases opportunities to feel connected to their school, their classroom, and their peers. There are many great models for integrating intentional practices around authentic relationships. This course, SEL RROCKS, will utilize an experiential approach to develop teacher understanding of social and emotional learning and it's importance in the classroom. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SEL RROCKS is an in-depth course with an ongoing case study that focuses on the intentional implementation of social and emotional learning within the classroom. Participants only need to enroll in one of the SummeRR Camp Sessions, but does have follow up courses throughout the school year. This cohort group meets once every 3 weeks to experience various components of intentional SEL practices. Participants will learn a variety of strategies, try them with students, and learn to engage in self - reflection about current practices. This course includes 9 mandatory after-school sessions from 3:30 - 5:00. These dates are scheduled for 9/10, 10/1, 10/22, 11/12, 12/10, 1/14, 2/4, 2/25, 3/10.
