What leads to improvement in student motivation? What can brain science, psychology, even economics, teach us about what motivates us to learn and perform complex tasks? How can we translate research into pedagogical practice to get students to want to come to our class and get excited about learning? Why don't rewards (good grades, extra credit, candy) and consequences always work the way we think they will? Teachers will explore research on motivation and examine classroom practices that encourage or inhibit motivation to maximize their efficacy in the classroom .
